Dr. Amaka Okeke

About Me:

Dr. Amaka Okeke is a dedicated and passionate optometrist with a diverse background in healthcare and a genuine commitment to serving her community. Her journey towards becoming an optometrist started at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Science. It was during her time at UMD that Dr. Okeke discovered her interest in optometry and became the president of the university's pre-optometry society. Driven by her passion for eye care and public health, Dr. Okeke pursued her Doctor of Optometry through the Accelerated Scholars program at Salus University.

In addition to her formal education, Dr. Okeke holds a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, which showcases her commitment to being prepared for any situation that may arise in her practice.

As a member of the American Optometric Association, Dr. Okeke actively advocates for the profession and strives to meet the vision and eye care needs of her patients. Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Okeke is deeply involved in volunteer and charity work related to eye care and public health. She has had the privilege of conducting free vision screenings for preschool students at The Excelsior School of Philadelphia. Her efforts in early intervention of vision disorders have made a positive impact on the lives of young children.

Dr. Okeke's caring and compassionate nature extends beyond her practice, as she actively participates in various community service projects. She has volunteered with the Anacostia Watershed Society, contributing to the cleanup of Anacostia Park and promoting environmental health. Additionally, she lent her support to the Christilis Superhero 5K race, raising funds for underserved children in Uganda, addressing issues of poverty, neglect, and abandonment.
